Review of Breaker Morant (1980) by Scott M — 27 Apr 2009
One of the perennials that do not change with time, or as you grow up, for that matter. Opens too many question not to leave a long-lasting mark on a person. Story of an individual with his emotions and decisions within a system which has a life of its own.
Heavy story of power and relevance of a person within the power of the system. Excellent performances, Woodward at his best ever, captures the audience when he speaks and when he does not. Film is much better when you know the story and controversies behind the story and the characters.
I wonder who would be able to make such a great film without action or romance today.
