Review of Bridge to Terabithia (2007) by Jacob B — 09 Sep 2018
Let's start with the obvious flaw: THE TRAILER IS A LIE! DON'T FALL FOR IT! It's advertised as a Narnia-esque adventure but if you've read the book, you've already had the suspicion that something is up.
Terabithia isn't real. It's all part of the imagination of two cute kids as an escape from the terrors of real life. Then the third act becomes supremely depressing and parents have to nervously explain a concept to their children that they don't think the kiddies are quite ready for.
Though some of the stuff had me confused since everything was a figment of their imagination. Bridge to Terabithia is still a good movie. Josh Hutcherson and AnnaSophia Robb have adorable chemistry together.
Robb's performance was really endearing. The story is good and, once again, the third act packs quite an unexpected punch if you haven't read the book. Shame you'll end up finding out about it in advance if you bring up this movie or the book to anyone who has seen either adaptation or read the book.
Bridge to Terabithia is not bad but don't go expecting a a Narnia...knock-off(?).
