Review of Bright (2017) by Truth_Of_Pisces — 24 Dec 2017
Is it a great movie? No. Is it David Ayer's best movie? Absolutely not. But there's enough fantastical craziness packed in to at least warrant a look. It doesn't do the best job of world building, and some plot lines might fall a bit flat or incoherent; complete suspension of disbelief is practically required for this movie.
Will Smith is back...doing Will Smith, like he does...all the time, never changing. Joel Edgerton does a decent job of playing an Orc, and is definitely the better of the two characters. Plot-wise, this film is more or less a hybrid of "End of Watch" meets "Street Kings".
Only one of those movies was any good, so make of that what you will. Overall, I did not dislike this film and I am curious to see what the sequel will bring, but as of right now, it's just another "okay" or "meh" David Ayer film.
At least it's not as bad as Suicide Squad.
