Review of Brightburn (2019) by Luciusmcgibbon — 14 Aug 2020
Maybe I enjoyed this movie more because I went in knowing absolutely nothing about it... Part of the fun was slowly realizing what kind of story I was dealing with, so I imagine it wouldn't have felt like such an Easter egg if I had seen trailers or plot hints ahead of time.
So I don't really have to wonder why the overall reception was so lukewarm. But I liked it just fine. The story development isn't all that deep, but the angle is so darn fresh (which you wouldn't expect from basically a DC opposite sketch) and the set pieces don't disappoint.
.. (howdy, Sheriff.) I'm actually hankering for more, although I don't think a sequel would work.
