Review of Broken Arrow (1996) by Faisal A — 09 Apr 2015
"Broken Arrow" tells of two pilots doing a routine trip throughout the night, but one of the pilots is actually a traitor and crash lands their Stealth Bomber in the middle of the desert. The two of them then have to come face to face and have a good ole battle between right and wrong.
I'll come forth and say that I watched John Woo's "Face/Off" before this, and I enjoyed that film considerably more than I did this film, but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy myself, because I certainly did. Woo is a great action director, and he shows it in this film by creating smooth action scenes that are very fluent. This film doesn't go without flaws, however. There was a lot of drag in this film. When there was action in this film, it was great, but there were a lot of times where plots ran together and there was definitely a lot of pointless dialogue that I didn't care about.
To close this review on a positive note, I will say that "Broken Arrow" is one of the better 90's action films that I've seen, but John Woo has done better work than this one. If you liked "Face/Off" or are a fan of Woo's work and haven't seen this, check it out. For what it's worth, "Broken Arrow" can be enjoyed by anyone going into it open-minded. 5.6/10.
