Much has been made of this first gay rom-com from a major studio, but the results don't live up to the hype. It stars comic Billy Eichner, who's pretty much playing his usual caustic, neurotic self. He plays a New York podcaster who's happy with his carefree life until he meets an interested hunk (Luke Macfarlane).

Their relationship develops on traditional lines, including the rough breakup before the final kiss. Fans of Eichner might find this enjoyable, but a little of his manic personality can go a long way. Macfarlane succeeds in being hot and charming.

The film also makes a point of showcasing contemporary queer culture (sex included) and there are some famous folks mostly wasted in cameos. Being that Eichner co-wrote, his autobiographical rants and political tirades drag the film's spirit and pace.

There are a few funny moments, but overall it's a spirited, but unoriginal romance.
