Review of Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star (2011) by Matthew C — 04 Dec 2013
0% is unfair, this movie was not made to be thought about and critiqued. Consider a spoon, we don't go 'wow that didn't do a good job at cutting my steak!'. No we measure a spoons utility against its intended purpose. Well Bucky Larson should be measured against its intended purpose too and that is to cater to our inner juvenile.
We watch shrek, etc and say wow that stimulated my inner child and we walk away feeling great. What about our inner juvenile, why can't I cater to this? If I act out, I remain single and outcast. And if I repress it, we all know where that goes Mr Freud. So movies like Bucky Larson allow a self respecting member of society to indulge this much forgotten inner self.
When watching this movie I laughed out loud and had an enjoyable time, same as I can watch Million dollar Baby and be forced into contemplating the meaning and purpose of life. Don't be one of those people who won't relax enough to enjoy this carefully created rubbish. Relax people and let your inner juvenile have some fun, it won't kill you and you will be more well rounded and interesting for it.
