Review of Bumblebee (2018) by Chris C — 03 Jan 2019
Bumblebee is a more competent movie than the transformers have had for a while. Long time since I viewed the original live action version. My memories of seeing it 11-12 years ago hold up quite a bit better than bumblebee, sadly.
With all the positive reviews, I was expecting a little more.
There was much effort put forth here but it can't help but feel kinda like desparation from a studio to keep something going that probly should have ended a while back.
I complained quite a bit about the Bay movies. The first and third movies are great to good but parts 2, 4 and 5 are varrying levels of Ok to pure garbage.
Oddly enough, I actually like the shittiest bay ones better than bumblebee. They delivered the blockbuster scope and eye popping visuals that was lacking in this prequel.
The trailer pretty much shows you everything btw.
Would be a 5 star if the movie stayed on Cybertron for the full run time. The beginning is so great!!!
Sadly, I see why this is failing. It's ok but I'm not going to encourage my friends to check this out.
It'll be liked a lot more on Netflix.
It's so scaled down, that's where these things should go to from now on.
I can't believe I'm saying this but, Aquaman is better and there's a reason it's winning the box office.
