Review of Call Me by Your Name (2017) by David I — 16 Mar 2018
Having lived in Italy as an exchange student in the late '70's, I can not highly enough extol the portrayed authenticity of the charm, warmth , and beauty of life in the country at that time. Everything in this film rings true.
And, finally, a movie in which two straight men portraying gay/bi characters give performances that truly show the playfulness, tenderness, and passion of love between two men without them just mashing their mouths together in overly aggressive kisses that would normally grind one's lips off.
So, kudos to Luca Guadagnino's vision and adeptness in realizing such a wonderful piece of art, and to Timmy and Armie for such outstanding performances that really did bring their characters to life.
(BTW, I feel that Timmy is like a young, male Meryl Streep. Such a talent.).
