Review of Captains of the Clouds (1942) by Private U — 28 Aug 2007
It's a uniform WWII propaganda film (in this case hailing the RCAF) laced with a uniform plot about rival bush pilots who fight over the same girl but ultimately become friends, until one of them has to sacrifice himself for the greater good.
..and so on and so forth. It's got a solid cast, and the technicolour shots of pilot training and the more rural parts of Canada are impressive. But all in all, it's pretty by-the-book.
