In a car, in the snow. Windows don't open and no attempt to break them. If he'd gotten out and put up some sort of banner maybe they'd be seen. If he'd get out during the day and be visible, maybe they'd have a chance.
But no, they stay hidden under the white snow with nothing visible. They make a phone call and she just whines instead of using the prior 7-8 days to PLAN what to say if they got through. For example, '50 miles east of the hotel buried in snow in the car'.
Geez, they could just cover the area with a metal detector and find them. Couldn't open the window... ok but why not break it before the snow hardens? They could easily use snow to cover up the window again if need be.
.. but no.
