Review of Child's Play (2019) by Luciusmcgibbon — 11 Aug 2019
At the very least, it answers the question "why reboot Child's Play so soon after the last Chucky movie?" It's a modernized origin, very different in flavor, and I don't mind the change at all. Actually the very first instigating scene is completely ridiculous, but easily forgotten as the movie picks up steam.
The kills will stand out in my memory, and the overall plot direction is serviceable enough. It kept me watching, but at the end of it all, it could have been a bit more. The setup to the ending promises the world, but what it delivers never rises above "just fine." And Mark Hamill was excellent, duh.
I give it a strong 6.
