Review of CHiPS (2017) by Don W — 14 Jun 2017
CHiPs was very messy. The plot was everywhere, and as a comedy the movie failed because laughs were nowhere to be found. Elements in this story were waaaaay too forced, even for a "comedy." The only good performances come from the two leads and from Vincent D'Onofrio, the latter of whom was given some pretty good development but in the end was reduced to the bare minimum.
This also might be one of the more sexist films I've seen recently, even if the lead women took on active roles in some scenes. But I will say that the movie did indeed try to develop its main characters, and that may have been its only achievement as everything else here is pretty blah.
I'm also pretty sure that there were some blatantly bad editing choices. Anywho, CHiPs, yet another 2017 movie saved from nothingness by D'Onofrio, gets a Dieharder's Only rating.
