Review of Chungking Express (1994) by Reece L — 10 Apr 2015
Like all of Kar-Wai's films, "Chungking Express" is involves several chance-happenings and strained relationships, but the mastery he displays in this effort is arguably more accomplished than any of his other work.
I can't take issue with any aspect of the production; it's gorgeously shot, beautifully romantic, and overwhelmingly moving. Rarely does a director make more than one masterpiece, but with this film and the excellent "In the Mood for Love", Kar-Wai has done just that.
