Review of Code of Silence (1985) by Lenny R — 08 Mar 2011
This is kind of a weird one. It seems like it could have been a much better movie had they not cast Chuck in the lead, or had they tailored the script more to his strengths. You can see Chuck putting as much into his performance as he's capable of, but he's obviously out of his comfort zone a lot of the time. They needed to pare back the drama and up the martial arts quotient, or find a more serious and accomplished actor to play Eddie. It's actually a shame, because you can see the potential for this to have been great, but that one big error of judgement cost it.
Oh, wait; that surveillance robot thing? Yeah, that's a completely stupid gimmick that really doesn't belong there, and dates the movie terribly. So, they should have ditched that, too.
