Review of Collateral (2004) by Lesmiserables — 02 Jul 2021
I was willing to accept all the "coincidences" this movie has and hell even some of it's highly questionable character decisions because it's interesting as hell and the conversations between Cruise and Fox are really captivating . The directing , the acting , the heat like camera work are all excellent and the plot/themes had massive potential but the ending left me completely blue balled.
It builds up this relationship between two completely different individuals where one indirectly helps the other to deal with their issues and it tries to be all deep and philosophical which is great but the ending is so cheesy , so predictable , so "happy" and generic that it drags down the rest of the movie considerably.
It's not that I'm a huge fan of nihilistic endings I truly am not but in the case of this movie the bad guy should have won the day because the things he did say throughout the movie would have felt more impactful .
