Review of Comet (2014) by Jackson R — 19 Nov 2016
The similarities that Comet has to Richard Linklater's work (especially the Before series) and Mark Weber's 500 Days of Sunshine do more to harm the story than come across as derivative homages. This is often due to the acting feels stilted, coming across as overly rehearsed and theatrical, a far cry from the natural performances that the director seemingly was going for.
The promise of 'parallel universes' does not hold up, as far as I could tell: it all happened in the same universe, so there's next to no 'sci-fi' elements in the film (there was a bit of cinematography here and there that suggests something otherworldly, but it's minute).
Daniel Hart's score was the highlight of the film, with its light acoustic playing and a string segments.
