Review of Connected (2009) by Mattias E — 01 Jan 2009
Connected got some attention both in HK and the US over the fact that it's a remake of a Hollywood movie. As far as the original Cellular goes, I'm afraid Connected doesn't make me more inclined to watch it.
Benny Chan has proven to be a pretty useless guy when it comes to directing, and Connected does not break this pattern. He actually manages to create some real suspense during the first half hour or so, and the action has an interesting eighties kinda feel over it, but that's about it.
I'm usually very apologetic when it comes to Louis Koo's overacting, for no good reason really, but in Connected he even pushes my limits. Only his dorkiness saves him.
