Review of Creed II (2018) by Swaggersaurus D — 20 Jan 2019
WOW! I expected this to be a copy of all the previous ROCKY movies, and in a way it is, but in such a powerful, intense and interesting way. This film incorporates ideas and stories of its predecessors to make this movie more personal. And I really loved that touch. I also liked the direction this movie was going in terms of plot. It talks about revenge and the legacy that fathers leave behind for their sons, and what their sons will do continue the legacy that their father started. In this movie, Adonis Creed, son of Apollo Creed, must go up against Victor Dragos, son of Ivan Drago, who killed Apollo Creed in a boxing match. However, Rocky challenged him in Russia, and Ivan lost. 30 years later, Ivan is back, and this time, it's going to be son....against son. All these family ties and history intensify the plot and pace, although there are some moments of drag here and there in this movie.
Overall, great addition to the franchise. It's pure formula, but it's good fun. This sequel certainly lives up to it's name, and fans of the ROCKY movies, or people who have seen the previous CREED installment, will be satisfied.
