Review of Cuban Fury (2014) by Alex H — 02 Nov 2014
If it weren't for the extremely likeable cast of Frost, O'Dowd, Jones and Coleman; Cuban Fury would be flat on it's feet. This cliché ridden tab A into slot B story feels incredibly stretched even with it's standard runtime of 96 minutes.
Jokes are often hit and miss, however, when the jokes hit... they do pack an awful good punch. As I said before, the cast are great and play each role brilliantly and to the letter (especially Chris O'Dowd who is simply revolting as Frost's rival).
Unfortunately you come away feeling that they could have made the script a little funnier, tighter and made the humour a little less broad. Kayvan Novak's inclusion, to me, felt misplaced and unwanted in the overall ensemble - but that I feel is the least of this pictures problems.
At the end of the day; It's shameless contrive fun - good popcorn movie but nothing special.
