Review of Cube (1997) by Godwin G — 11 Apr 2018
When I told my boyfriend I was settling in to watch this he was like "Oh it's great! There are no real characters and no real plot but it's awesome." I didn't understand how this could be the case, but having seen it, he was totally right.
The plot is simple - strangers trapped in a series of interlocking death cubes are trying to escape. It's a puzzle, and it's one that's just captivating enough to keep you watching the entire movie even when every single character is just a cipher for the screenwriter to use to talk about their pretty adolescent ideas about society and government.
Impressively, the special effects hold up.
