Review of Dawn of the Dead (2004) by Roy C — 06 Jun 2011
Good: Cool action, good character interaction and reactions to apocalypse, not too much great acting-but there is some.
Bad: Thin story.
Survivors holed up in a mall in the midst of the zombie apocalypse must find a way to survive. The movie was not very plot heavy, but many zombie movies are not. Throughout the movie there was not too much extravagant acting, but there were moments where there was emotion. The characters interact very well together, and I like how the movie shows how different people react. Some must help others, but many take obsessions over things that they normally would not focus on in the normal world. The violence is bloody and fun, filled with biting, guns, gore, and brains. There are some great moments of horror, especially in the beginning. They clearly utilize tension, blood, chaos, and dead people running amok through the city eating people alive. The costuming of the zombies looks realistic.
