Although slightly better than the first remake, this second effort lacks any originality and recycles predictable tired old movie themes with little excitement to be had. The original series of movies was highly overrated as was the book.
How this got such a high rating can only be explained by tampering... or the idiocy of the american viewing public...oh, how I wish it was tampering! We seem to be doomed by the idiots who plunk down good money for garbage and recycled garbage to be subjected to unworthy remakes and idiotic junk that still manages to make a lot of money (see michael bay, tyler perry, adam sandler, chris rock, etc.
) .
