Review of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) by Dev92 — 23 Jul 2014
Absolutely phenomenal, the first thing to be noted about this film is just how good the visual effects are. To be honest after the initial wow factor you completely forget that the apes aren't really actors.
They look fantastic in the different weather scenarios. Only when you see an animated bear and an animated monkey do you feel like you are watching some moving pixels. The story itself is extremely gripping, an emotional roller-coaster which could be deemed a little predictable but at the same time has enough about it in terms of imagery and great directing to get away with any obvious twists or turns.
A wonderful movie which might be hard to top in the next instalment.
