The story is predictable. It's a big shift from Rise of the Planet of the Apes. It takes a different direction that is carried out into the third installment. While it's not a bad film, it's not a memorable one.
The cast lacks diversity from the first film. None of the performances were memorable, and Gary Oldman's performance was wasted on a one dimensional character.
