Review of Dead or Alive: Final (2002) by Leo K — 13 Dec 2010
A huge disappointment for a fan of Miike's work. This is basically the second film with a different plot, less money to do justice to the futuristic story which is blown on the last scene alone it seems and even more of the sitting around. There's the hints of what he's capable of here and there but it's buried beneath boring bits where characters sit aboot delivering rubbish slow moving dialogue with big chunks of silence in between that, instead of adding thoughtfulness or weight of drama, merely makes the film dull and vaguely pompous.
The girl is very attractive but aside from that and the completely awesome wtf-ness of the end there's nothing to enjoy here. Thus ends a series which should of been left with the fun and greatness of the original. Avoid.
