Review of Dead Space: Downfall (2008) by Kevin M — 06 Dec 2011
Let me start out with the negatives first. As a fan of the game, I can't say that 'Downfall' brings a whole lot new to the table besides being a precursor.
The story is nothing original. Pretty much a standard 'Oh crap, there's aliens on our space ship' routine. The animation is pretty suspect, as anime/manga is pure garbage no matter what the film. The writing script wise is also pretty weak, having its share of wtf lines.
Despite these flaws, I'd have a hard time saying I didn't enjoy it. It is brutally violent and gory and just has a sense of straight up horror. The creature design is flat out awesome, and full of monsters that are truly creepy.
Really, this just wets my appetite for a live action 'Dead Space' film, which would be flat out off the chain.
