Review of Death Note (2017) by Rob C — 17 Oct 2017
Death Note suffers from lack of connection with its main characters and a far too short runtime. What could have been a worthy and satisfying story about what to do with the power to end another's life ends up being an often times meaningless, and often times boring, journey to a uninspired ending.
This director has brought us good movies before and the work he has done here is engaging however the pacing takes too many short leaps to get to where it wants to go. Willem Dafoe is impressive but has far too few minutes as the voice of the demon.
In the end, watch the trailer and be happy with it. It's the most fun you will have watching this movie anyways.
