Review of Deep Blue Sea (1999) by Ritchie D — 15 Apr 2010
Imagine, if you will, Jaws; now remove the idea of not showing the Shark constantly; take away the likeable and developed characters. If you're still with me, you get Deep Blue Sea. This film has got a lot of nerve, and it's not ashamed at all.
The main thing that bugged me was the lead female: she does experiments on Sharks, is responsible for lots of deaths, kills the sharks she's responsible for, and we're meant to feel sorry for her.
The acting is awful, aside from Samuel L. Jackson, and overall the film is just lazy. It's not quite as bad as the Jaws sequels, but is that really a compliment?
