Review of Den of Thieves (2018) by Aaron L — 03 Jan 2019
Once in a while, you get a really gritty cops vs robbers movie that attempts to be 'real' with deeper human instincts and emotions (although some tangents such as his family issues would be better relegated to a series than a movie). Gerard Butler is as bad-ass as ever.
The only downside is the naive attempt at random twists for the sake of throwing off the audience. Yet these twists just burn useless plot holes throughout the movie.
I get the feeling that the cops actually wanted to steal the money from the robbers... but somehow the script changed to make them unrealistically altruistic (despite how Gerard behaves throughout the movie).
Anyways, 4.5/5 for good action, and fun dialogue.
