Review of Dial M for Murder (1954) by Peter B — 12 Dec 2009
Hasnt aged well really. Everyone is fine and its directed well but its all a bit too static and one note. Nothing really rises or falls its just people talkin in posh voices for the most part. It keeps the viewer at a distance and from really gettin into the tale.
Film is a visual thingy and we should see what happens rather than just keep talkin and explaining incidents.....theres a lot of standin round chattin politely to blokes with moustaches. Watching it for the first time many years after it was made its more a film you appreciate rather than enjoy.
