Review of Digimon: The Movie (2000) by Dammy G — 30 Dec 2012
This movie is what happens when you take too many liberates when translated a foreign film. Or in Digimon's case three foreign films. Saban here tries to squeeze three films with three completely different stories into one movie compressing them and as a result taking a lot out to the point where the end result makes little to no sense.
Not only that it doesn't match up to the TV show at all, and in later seasons of the show when they try splicing in the movie to the US dubs continuity it's an even bigger mess than before. I liked it as a kid, but it's not a film that stands the test of time.
As for my thoughts on Digimon, I love the first season of the anime, and Digimon Adventure is an all time favorite of mine. Digimon Adventure 02 was in my view that unnecessary sequel that ruined it. Kind of like The Lost World: Jurassic Park, and Jurassic Park III or The Matrix's Reloaded and Revolution.
Tamers was terrible in my view, and I haven't seen anything after that. If you're gonna check out anything watch the original show, the movies can be easily avoided.
