Review of Dinner for Schmucks (2010) by Robert I — 20 Jan 2013
My 5th favorite movie ever. Not better than Horrible Bosses, not better than The Hangover, not better than The Hangover Part 2 and not better than Due Date, but it's better than all of the other movies I've seen besides my four favortie movies.
Dinner For Schmucks is one of the best movie I have ever seen, before I've watched Horrible Bosses, Due Date and The Hangover, Dinner for Schmucks was my second favorite movie, it was considered the best comedy since The Hangover, even though it's now not, it's still considered a masterpiece.
Steve Carell probably plays he's best role of his career, probably even better than his character on the TV show The Office, where he plays the boss Michael Scott, but if he ever plays a boss, he plays one in this movie, at least for me, because Carell was just hilarious in it, this Carell's role is just very memorable, Paul Rudd, lets see, I love Paul Rudd, but he had much funnier roles, even though I liked his character and the person who completes the rest of the cast is Zach Galifianakis, the guy who stars in my second, third, fourth and fifth favorite movie, Zach and Carell are two of my favorite actors, they both rock in this movie, Zach, even though he had a small screentime, wich I can sadly say, he was freakin hilarious, really he was just hilarious, he played dumb roles before, but this one was really he's dumber role, or how can I say it better, he was a schmuck in this movie.
Tim Conrad (Rudd) is a happy guy with a nice job and a nice girlfriend, Julia (Stephanie Szostak), who works with Kieran Vollard (Jemaine Clement). Tim is about to get a promotion, but to get it, he just needs to go to a dinner with the company workers, but is not just a regular dinner, is a dinner for schmucks, everyone has to invite an idiot to make fun of him, without them to understand what's going on.
Tim was basicly not going, even though it was the only way he cood get a promotion, but he just raned over fate, literally, he found Barry (Carell), a guy who appears to be a schmuck. Tim invites Barry to the dinner, but Barry will follow Tim before the dinner and there will be lots of stuff going on.
Like Tim suspecting that Julie is cheating on him with Kieran and spy him with Barry, they will also meet Barry's crazy boss, Therman (Galifianakis) who thinks that can control people's minds.
Before the dinner, there will happen some crazy stuff, but the dinner will be also a big crazy thing... Just loved it, I'm not sure if I can count how much times I've watched this movie, I can never get tired of it.
Entertaining, hilarious, great cast and the fifth best movie I have ever seen. And there's also a memorable speech by Carell. 100% recommended. Grade: A+.
