After Spider-Man: No Way Home was a crossover between 3 different franchises, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was a crossover between different film genres. It was a blend of Superhero, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, and even Horror - all genres that director Sam Raimi had mastered in the past.
The film also expanded the Marvel Cinematic Universe into a new multiverse of possibilities, setting up a large future for this franchise.
