Review of Downsizing (2017) by Sarah M — 04 Jan 2018
A little Matt Damon and little else. After Alexander Payne knocked it out of the park with Nebraska, he decided to follow it up with Downsizing, a film so boring and void of laughs that it makes The Descendants, of which I was also not a fan, look like Election.
The only thing larger than life about Downsizing was the production budget, which was clearly squandered on a cast of uninspired cameos and a lackluster Matt Damon who appears as confused as the material.
Just to give you an idea of how little the artistic decisions in this film make sense, you could have easily removed the part about Damon being "downsized" and it wouldn't effect the plot of DOWNSIZING one iota.
