Review of Drunken Master (1978) by Sagaciousfrank . — 11 Mar 2016
Watched 'Drunken Master' for the first time in a decade with my girlfriend (first viewing for her) and both loved it. Thankfully I kept my 'Hong Kong Legend' DVD editions with the option of Chinese or English dubbing. Where I can, I invariably choose the native language track.
This film is simply hilarious, and Jackie Chan was the effectively the first Martial Artist to successfully blend comedy with Kung Fu in a movie. The dialogue as reproduced by English subtitles combined with excellent comedic facial expressions and acting by Chan (in particular) and other cast members had both of us utterly entertained and laughing from almost start to finish. Plus, as always with a Jackie Chan film, the stunts and choreography are a marvel to behold. I sense a Jackie Chan film season gracing my Blu-Ray/DVD player once more for the first time in a while.
