Review of Dude, Where's My Car? (2000) by Jordan K — 21 Nov 2015
Dude, Where's My Car is a crappy movie, in terms of film. Its plot ridiculously shifts and the humor is immature and toilet humor at that, but I found it to be undeniably "so stupid it's funny" - a guilty pleasure comedy indeed.
Stoner buddies Jesse and Chester awaken from a bad hangover and try to piece together the unbelievable events that happened the night before, all whilst attempting to get laid and retrieve a universe ending space tool.
Much like a crappy but popular YouTube video, Dude, Where's My Car is clearly dumb. The humor is juvenile and filled with repetitiveness, some of it works better than other parts - it was so dumb that at times it did actually work, and that's presumably the general consensus. Kutcher and Scott have great chemistry, although they have a present overexaggeration in performance. The story shifts from many different subplots, often annoyingly and unprofessionally, and often returns to a certain subplot that hasn't been mentioned for a while. The film is extremely hard to review seriously - it was dumb, but fun. I honestly enjoyed it, although I know how stupid it sounds...
