Review of Ebirah, Horror of the Deep (1966) by Blais E — 04 Dec 2010
It's open-Lobster season for the Big G as here he tangles with a colossal crustacean in the South Pacific seas, in this typically hilarious mid-60's installment of Toho's beloved Samurai-Stomping Super-Saurian Saga.
As usual, the plot is minimal, the characters are perfunctory, and the pacing, especially during the first half of the film, is almost non-existent, although the effects are acceptable, and the techniques used to bring the enormous "Ebirah, Horror of the Deep" (The Langostino-Leviathan-) to life are effective and laudable.
