Review of Edge of Darkness (2010) by Jebus C — 30 Apr 2011
Missing the logic and character work neccessary to make it a great movie. Several rather gaping drop-outs in logic made the plot seem ridiculous. Like the car-attack scene, which requires a mystery bad guy to show up at a precise time in a fast moving car.
It just doesn't make any sense. That said Mel Gibson hasn't lost his touch and creates a solid lead character. He's rather stoic and introverted here, which is odd for Mel, but he pulls it off.
I get the feeling this was heavily re-cut to become more of an action-based thriller, which is a pity. Martin Campbell is talented enough to know what a good movie looks like.
