Edge of Tomorrow is exactly the type of movie that actually survives on its gimmick. While the whole concept of Groundshog-Day-as-an-action-thriller has been done before (see Source Code), Edge of Tomorrow is visceral and humorous in all the right ways, and uses designs that you don't typically see in mega-budgeted summer fare.
Another strong action film, in a summer that has already had far more than most.
