Review of El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie (2019) by Suttree — 16 Oct 2019
Paul carries this safe, if solid, tale with a very fine assist from Robert Forester. Breaking Bad was nearly flawless for its first three seasons. While it never recovered from a serious misstep in season four, it still soared on occasion.
While Paul shows every day of the six years that have passed, he lifts the proceedings enough to please the hard-core "Captain Cook" fans. Those not blind to the series' shortcomings, or unfamiliar with what all the fuss was about, will not be moved to go back and binge.
The one flashback scene with Brian Cranston is all the reminder needed as to why Breaking Bad was so good, even when the story-line grew uneven.
