Review of Elvis (2022) by Okwhatever — 07 Aug 2022
Of course when tasked with making an Elvis biopic, the beautifully maximalist Baz Luhrmann plays it like a fairytale, but instead of Ariel getting her voice back and living happily ever after, we are reminded the Ursulas of the world don't really get found out until it's much too late.
A beautifully made film, made me wish I had more eyes on my face so I could see so much of the detail put in. Austin Butler is a triumph and has made a strong case for Best Actor at the Oscars, and hopefully we can see more of him on our screens for years to come.
Costuming was otherworldly and made me wish I owned a bedazzler. Bravo.
