While it has good visual effects, enjoyable action sequences and decent performances, Eragon, even when judged by its own merits, feels like what a teenager believes is how a big-budget movie is written.
This movie is not that bad but it does feel like it was released as a "Follow the Leader" type movie. As in released to captialize off of Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and Narnia. Eragon is mediocre but still somewhat fun.
Although we probably won't be getting an adaptation of the second book anytime soon.
