Review of Every Day (2018) by Rosie B — 01 Sep 2018
Every day presents itself as a welcome divergence from a formulaic romantic drama- but is it?
What this movie offers up is an outsider with something so different that separates them from the status quo- who inevitably falls in love with a girl.
At least on the surface it appears to subvert traditional ideas associated with romantic teen dramas. The female protagonist is initially suspicious but never fully adverse to the idea that the personality she's fallen for may inhabit innumerable physical bodies.
'Not everyone's body aligns with their mind' I would hope that this film isn't just cashing in in the rise of lgbtq and trans awareness but in these times it's hard not to be cynical.
Saying that the overall impression I got from this film was one of good intent, and a fairly solid and diverse performances from the young cast. I.
