Review of Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022) by Lambo442 — 28 May 2022
I really enjoyed the first part of this film, which played out like an original sci-fi martial arts movie with some zany comedy reminiscent of King Fu Hustle and even a bit of a horror feel. But then it becomes very preachy and pretentious and the moral message the director is trying to get across takes precedence to believability or plot coherence.
There are many epistemic assumptions and the philosophy of the writers is sloppy and clichéd in regards to multiverses and quantum mechanics. The idea of 'nothing means anything' is still applying meaning.
In the end the overall message is so basic it's almost patronising. Kudos to all the actors though, they really did a great job. I now want to see a really good Sci fi martial arts movie, other than Black Mask.
