Review of Evil Dead (2013) by Adverb — 17 Oct 2015
To paraphrase Tom Russo of the Boston Globe, are we really looking to Evil Dead for demonic possessions played straight? The only thing that set apart Sam Raimi's Evil Dead 2 (the better of the original movies) was the insane sense of humour.
Fede Alvarez's incarnation has no humour, no charm to it. Since it's not scary, I don't see the point of even making the movie.
