Review of Exotica (1994) by Seán C — 25 Jun 2007
Atom Egoyan finally crosses the threshold and grows up: Characters actually touch each other! Characters are connected by taxman Francis (Bruce Greenwood), whose daughter disappeared years earlier, and everyone is suffering from a disappearance (and abuse of) love.
The final scene, when we get a look at where Christina really came from -- and how she obviously doesn't want to go back in that house -- sinks me in tears in my seat, to the point that I have to wait until everyone is out of the theatre before standing up and heading out the door.
