Review of Extraction 2 (2023) by Jluis_001 — 18 Jun 2023
The prison and train missions are basically what Call of Duty could dream of becoming if they made an adaptation. And I call them missions instead of film sequences because that's basically how this feel, like a video game. Now the adverse and favorable aspects of it depend on more things than the criteria of each viewer, but at the end of the day you have to admit that most of its design depends on it, to entertain you, and if you enjoyed the first one, of course you'll enjoy this one. I don't see how you won't. Extraction 2 is like any sequel. Everything is bigger and consequently hollower. The life of this film just like its predecessor exists solely in its 120-minute running time. There's nothing wrong with that, but it doesn't mean anything really good either. At least the whole thing is not poorly made and to entertain yourself just for the sake of it isn't a negative thing when you know that's what you want and that this is what delivers it.
I'm not eager to see the impending third movie but we will have wait and see what they do. One way or another they have to go higher.
