Review of Eye of the Devil (1966) by Eric R — 14 Nov 2011
Low-key and subdued, the cast is terrific (Kerr and Niven treat the material absolutely straight, and Pleasence delivers a very creepy performance), and director Thompson does his best to keep the premise from flying off the rails into the ridiculous.
There are some incredibly tense and spooky sequences, but those looking for high body counts or overt supernatural manifestations will probably find the film to be something of a slog.
