Review of Eyes Wide Shut (1999) by Peatspin — 19 Mar 2020
For a final offering it's a great look at the use of color to set moods, he blends red, blue, and their combo: purple to tell the story of passion, coldness, and the land between: i.e. our dreams. As well as using a recurring rainbow motif to tell of all the possibilities that Bill thinks are out there.
The ambiguous ending leaves us, like dreams, to contemplate not only what happened, but what we want to believe happened. All the different life circumstances that drive our passions are on display here, wonderful film.
